History & Origin: Discovered and developed in Italy as a distinct mutation selected specifically for an ultra-dark anthocyanin (red pigment) accumulation profile. Qualities & Sizing: Produces a highly striking, intense red-purple skin color that starts developing a full month before harvest—even the fruit stalks take on a reddish tint. It maintains a stable, standard Gala size curve but does not inherently push oversize fruits. Climate & Color Stability: Excellent climate and color stability. Because its genetics trigger intense anthocyanin accumulation very early in the fruit's development, it easily overcomes the color-stalling effects of warm monsoon nights. It removes color anxiety entirely, letting orchardists pick strictly based on starch indices and brix.
