Bud.10
Budagovsky 10
M.8 × Red Standard
Budagovsky Research Station, Russia, 1960
Developed in Russia by the Michurin State Agricultural University, the Budagovsky 10 (Bud 10) rootstock was bred by crossing Bud 9 with B 490 to combine extreme winter hardiness with enhanced structural strength. It limits mature tree size to roughly 35% to 40% of a standard seedling, providing a touch more vigor and better anchorage than Bud 9 or M9T337. While growth practices still favor permanent trellis support for maximum high-density yields, its root system is notably less brittle. Bud 10 is highly precocious and exceptionally productive. Regarding resistance, it exhibits excellent tolerance to extreme cold and Phytophthora crown rot, alongside improved field resistance to fire blight, but it remains susceptible to woolly apple aphids and Apple Replant Disease.
