Classified as a true spur-type, it inherits the ultra-compact, low-vigor growth habit of its parent, focusing its energy into tight fruiting spurs rather than long wood. What makes it legendary in the Red Delicious family is its coloring timeline: it is a full-blush strain that turns red right from petal fall (immediately after bloom) and stays red all the way to picking. In poor-coloring regions or lower valley microclimates, it acts as a savior, developing a highly uniform, deep, dark mahogany finish without needing extreme autumn temperature drops. True to its Oregon Spur II parentage, it maintains a strong capacity to push large, heavy fruit sizes paired with a beautifully elongated conical shape, prominent crown lobes, and exceptionally crisp, stark-white juicy flesh.
